Introducing: Alta Video API

Last modified: Monday February 10, 2025.

Alta Video includes a powerful application programming interface (API) that enables you to create integrations between your Alta Video deployment and third-party systems. These systems might be used for central monitoring of your premises, to play automated audio warnings over speaker systems when an Alta Video rule is triggered, to automate operations, to export data for further analysis, or for other purposes.

Featuring a RESTful API, Alta Video uses the standard HTTP GET, PUT, POST and DELETE functions to remotely access and modify data, enabling Alta Video and the third-party systems to effectively communicate.

You can view the API documentation at https://alta-video.readme.io/reference/get_api-v1-about, or, when logged into your Alta Video deployment, you can use the built-in API Explorer, enabling you to become familiar with the features and options available through the API.

To access the in-built API Explorer:

  1. Click the user Profile icon (the icon with the initials of your user name).
  2. Select API Explorer.
