Web relay integrations

The Alta Video video management system enables control of third-party devices by using webhooks to command web relays attached to the third-party devices.

Web relays, also known as internet relays or Ethernet relays, are devices that are used to control other devices by using signals sent to the device across your network or across the internet. Examples of their use include being able to trigger an intruder alarm if a line-crossing rule triggers out-of-hours, or to illuminate red or green door entry lights depending on the number of people already within an area.

You can configure Alta Video Rules to send the specially crafted webhooks to your web relays when the rule triggers.

In these example instructions, a Controlbyweb WebRelay Quad, with four individual relays is used. Other models of web relay might only have one or two relays, or might include eight or more relays.

The process to configure web relays from other manufacturers, although broadly similar, might have syntax or command differences. Check the web relay user documentation for information regarding the formatting of the webhooks needed to enable your specific web relay.

For the Controlbyweb relays, you can only control the device from an Avigilon Alta device (Avigilon Ava camera or Alta Cloud Connector) installed on the same physical network as the web relay.
