Alta Video -2062: Denial of service vulnerability in Go's crypto/x509 package versions before 1.25.5 and 1.24.11

Overview

A vulnerability was discovered in the Go``crypto/x509` package related to excessive resource consumption. Specifically, the HostnameError.Error() function did not limit the number of hosts printed, leading to quadratic runtime via repeated string concatenation when constructing an error string. As a result, a malicious actor could provide a certificate that caused excessive resource consumption.

    • All Stable upgrade channel versions after and including 8.0.9.
    • All Beta upgrade channel versions after and including 8.0.9.
  • Alta Video Cloud: from  10th December 2025

Resolution

This issue has been fixed in Alta Video Beta upgrade channel version 8.0.9 and Stable upgrade channel version 8.0.9.

It is highly recommended that all installations running an affected version are upgraded to the latest release as soon as possible. Releases are available to download through the Alta Video User Interface.

A fix was deployed to the Alta Video Cloud on  10th December 2025. Alta Video Cloud customers do not need to take any additional action.

This issue has been fixed in Avigilon Cloud-Native Cameras Beta upgrade channel version 8.0.9 and Stable upgrade channel version 8.0.9.

It is highly recommended that all Avigilon Cloud-Native camera installations running an affected version upgrade to the latest release as soon as possible. Releases are available to download through the Alta Video User Interface for Avigilon Cloud-Native cameras and the Avigilon Cloud-Native Camera Interface for unmanaged cameras.
