Alta Aware — 1590: Docker cache poisoning vulnerability

Release Date

31st of July 2024.

Overview

A vulnerability has been identified in the Docker container image building infrastructure, allowing an attacker to poison the Docker build cache by creating a specially crafted image that appears to be a valid cache candidate. This could result in malicious code being injected when production Docker images are built.

Affected Products

  • Ava Cameras:
    • All Stable upgrade Channel versions before 6.9.5.
    • All Beta upgrade channel versions before 6.9.0.
  • Ava Cloud: before 6.9.5.

Unaffected Products

  • Ava Aware: all versions.

  • Ava Cameras:

    • All Stable upgrade channel versions after and including 6.9.5.
    • All Beta upgrade channel versions after and including 6.9.0.
  • Ava Cloud: from 6.9.5

Resolution

A fix was deployed to the Ava Cloud on 6.9.5. Ava Cloud customers do not need to take any additional action.

This issue has been fixed in Ava Camera Beta upgrade channel version 6.9.0 and Stable upgrade channel version 6.9.5.

It is highly recommended that all Ava Camera installations running an affected version upgrade to the latest release as soon as possible. Releases are available to download through the Ava Aware User Interface for Ava managed cameras and the Ava Camera User Interface for unmanaged Ava cameras.
