Alta Aware — 1584: HTTP/2 denial of service via golang.org/x/net-v0.21.0
Release Date
31st of July 2024.
Overview
A vulnerability exists in HTTP/2 endpoints where an attacker can trigger excessive header data processing by sending numerous CONTINUATION frames. This vulnerability arises from the endpoint's handling of HTTP/2 headers, where, even when exceeding the `MaxHeaderBytes` limit, excess headers are parsed but not allocated memory. An attacker can exploit this by sending Huffman-encoded headers, leading to a disproportionate decoding cost for the endpoint compared to the effort required to send them.
