How to: Listen to Alta Video audio alarm snippets

Last modified: Tuesday August 30, 2022.

You can configure Alta Video or Avigilon Ava cloud-native cameras to record a snippet of sound when an audio event occurs.

For privacy reasons, the audio snippets are limited to approximately 3 seconds in length.

Once recorded, you can listen to the audio snippets from the Alta Video user interface. You can also download the audio snippets to listen using an external system.

Prerequisites

For audio events to be available from the Alarms tab, you must have some audio rules configured, and suitable audio events must have occurred to trigger those rules.

The ability to listen to audio alarm snippets follows the globally-configured microphone capabilities for your deployment. See Configure the global audio settings for your deployment.
