How to: View exported panoramic video clips
Last modified: Wednesday April 09, 2025.
When using commercial MP4 players (such as the VLC media player for Microsoft Windows, Linux, Mac OS, and many mobile platforms, or IINA media player for Mac) to view footage from panoramic or fisheye cameras, you can only view the circular, non-dewarped view. Use the Avigilon Alta Video player to view and dewarp footage so that content is more easily seen.
Prerequisites
- Export the required panoramic or fisheye footage from Alta Video, see How to: Export video clips from Alta Video.
- Extract the MP4 video streams from the exported zip file.
Task - Configure the video settings
- Open the Alta Video player web app from https://beta.apps.alta.avigilon.com/apps/video-player/.
- Click
Settings.
- As needed, adjust the settings to suit the camera and mounting position, or select Auto detect to have the Video player web app configure these settings.
- Select the placement and video overlays to include on the video.
Task - View exported panoramic video
- Drag the required video clip into the Video player web app. Alternatively, click the central area of the screen to open the Open file dialog.
- Click
and select your preferred dewarp method. The options are
Globe,
Panoramic, or
2x1 dewarp modes.
- For
Globe mode, draw a rectangle over the area of interest within the image to dewarp in that area, click and drag to pan within the image, or use the mouse wheel to zoom into and out of that area.
- For
Panoramic and
2x1modes, draw a rectangle over the area of interest within the image to zoom (or point to an area of the image and use the mouse wheel to zoom into and out of that area).
- Use the
button to view the Video player web app in full screen mode.
