As an Alta Video Operator or Administrator, you might want to change the password you use to log in to the system. You might also want to edit your location or telephone number in your profile.

Task — Open the My profile dialog

  1. Log in to Alta Video.
  2. Click My profile button My profile (located in the top right of the screen).
  3. Select My profile.

Task — Edit your location or phone details

  1. Choose General settings.
  2. Update your Location and Phone number as required.
  3. Click Done.

Task — Enable two factor authentication

Provided your system administrator has not mandated the use of two factor authentication for all users, you can choose to enable two factor authentication for your own account.

  1. Choose General settings.
  2. Enable Two factor authentication.
  3. Follow the instructions on screen to register with your preferred multi factor authentication app on your phone.
  4. Click Done.
  5. Click Done.

Task — Change your password

  1. Choose General settings and click Change password.
  2. Type your existing password.
  3. Type your new password.

Your password must have a minimum of 10 characters.

We recommend you use a strong, unique, password for each site and do not reuse passwords. Strong passwords include a mix of upper and lower case characters, numerals, and symbols.

  4. Repeat your new password.
  5. Click Update.
  6. Click Done.

Task — Select your preferred language

  1. Choose Preferences.
  2. Select your preferred language.

Task — Limit the number of concurrent video streams to play back

For most systems, you should be able to play back four concurrent video streams. If your computer struggles to achieve this, you can limit the number of concurrent streams.

  1. Choose Preferences.
  2. Enter the number of concurrent streams to play back.

Only increase the number of streams, or remove the limitation, if you are using a very powerful computer that can handle more concurrent video streams.

  3. Click Done.

Task — Choose your preferred playback location

For devices in locations with low network bandwidth, remotely viewing or exporting video from the Avigilon Alta Cloud backup might give better performance than attempting to playback or export the information from the device. Choose to use either the information stored on the device, or information that has been backed up to the cloud.

When selecting Backup, and depending on your backup configuration, playback or exported video might not include all video. For example, if you only back up Interesting video, any periods of Uninteresting video are not present.

  1. Choose Preferences.
  2. Select from:
    • Use deployment settings
    • Device
    • Backup
  3. Click Done.
