Define focus area of interest

Last modified: Wednesday July 23, 2025.

For Avigilon Ava cameras where the focus can be adjusted (Avigilon Ava Dome, Avigilon Ava Bullet, and Avigilon Ava Quad cameras), you can optionally define an area of interest to be used by the focusing mechanism.

To achieve a good result with the focus area, the focus window must contain a region that has contrasting colors or lighting. This enables the camera to use the edges of these contrasting areas to obtain a sharp image. Additionally, the focus window should be at least 10% the size of the total image.

Task — Focus the camera

  1. Choose Tools Open a tool > Devices Devices.
  2. Select the Avigilon Ava camera to add the focus area of interest.
  3. From Settings, click Edit settings.
  4. Click Video adjustments.
  5. From Area of focus, click Show.
  6. Create rectangular masks for the zones to be used to focus the camera view.
  7. Click Apply
  8. Click Done.
