Delete or reset Alta cameras

You can delete an Alta camera from a deployment or reset it to its default settings.
- When you delete a camera, all recordings stored on the device are deleted, and you can choose to restore its default settings.
- When you reset a camera, you can choose to delete any video stored on the device or backed up to the cloud.

Before you start
To delete camera recordings, you must have a user role with the device permissions Add/Edit devices and Delete devices:
- Go to Users >
> Roles > Device permissions > ALTA VIDEO & PROTECT
- If required, add the Devices tool.
- Select Add/Edit devices and Delete devices.

Delete a camera
Interesting and uninteresting video, bookmarked recordings, and external links stored on the device are deleted. See Create Configuration profiles for your devices and Saved clips tool.
- From the toolbar, open
> Devices . - Hover over
Devices and select Cameras.
- Select the required camera.
- From the sidepanel, click Edit settings.
- Select Maintenance.
- Choose Delete device.
- To restore the default settings, select Reset device before deleting.
- Click Delete.
Reset a camera
Restore the default settings and keep any video stored on the device.
- From the toolbar, open
> Devices . - Hover over
Devices and select Cameras.
- Select the required camera.
- From the sidepanel, click Edit settings.
- Select Maintenance.
- Choose Reset device settings.
- Click Reset.
Reset a camera and delete all recordings
Restore the default device settings. Interesting and uninteresting video, bookmarked recordings, external links, and any recordings backed up to the cloud are deleted. See Create Configuration profiles for your devices and Saved clips tool.
- From the toolbar, open
> Devices . - Hover over
Devices and select Cameras.
- Select the required camera.
- From the sidepanel, click Edit settings.
- Select Maintenance.
- Choose Reset device settings and delete recordings.
- Click Reset.
