Search tool
Last modified: Wednesday July 17, 2024.
The Avigilon Alta Alta Video software includes powerful search tools to enable you to investigate and find evidence events.
Included are several search features; searching for the appearance of people or vehicles, identifying when an object crosses a line, identifying when objects are loitering, or creating a search by importing information from rules you have created in Alta Video.
The Alta Video Search uses the metadata that is stored on either the onboard storage on the camera, or that is saved to Alta Cloud Connectors.
Search does not find results in any information that only exists as a Cloud Backup.
Quick searches from Video view or Map view
You can quickly search for an object (person or vehicle) from the Video view and from Map view.
Appearance Search
With Appearance search, you select the key parameters of what you are searching for. When looking for a person, you can search for the gender, and for the color of clothing they are wearing on their torso and legs. You can also select a color not to be used in the search — for example, to exclude staff wearing a uniform, select the color of the uniform to be excluded from searches. You can also use Search to look for faces, so that you can carry out a similarity search across multiple camera views.
When looking for a vehicle, you can search using the type of vehicle —
Additionally, if you have an image of the person, the persons face, or the vehicle you are looking for, you can use the image as the basis for your search.
Line Crossing Search
Often, you might have a camera view where you expect people or vehicles to normally be in one area of the view, but not in another. You can search for either vehicles or people crossing a line between these two zones.
Additionally, if you have an image of the person or vehicle you are looking for, you can use the image as the basis for your search.
Loitering Search
Alta Video includes the ability to search for people or vehicles that are loitering in view of your cameras. Loitering is defined as "standing or waiting around without apparent purpose" for a period of a minute or more within the view of a camera.
Additionally, if you have an image of the person or vehicle you are looking for, you can use the image as the basis for your search.
Sound Search
With Sound search, you select the type of sound of interest. Currently, only Glass breaking has been implmented, but further sound types are in development.
Point of Sale Search
Search for specific data from your Point of Sale cash registers, for example, a particular product name, or for a sale where an object has a price over a set amount.
Alta Video includes the ability for you to define rules to provide alarms and that trigger actions when specific events occur. You can configure the Search tool to search based around a pre-created rule.
