Use 32-Input Expansion Board–connected sensors in Alta Protect

You can connect sensors and input devices to an Avigilon 32-Input Expansion Board and use them as triggers in Alta Protect zones.
Setup
Connect your trigger devices to the 32-Input Expansion Board, connect the expansion board to an Avigilon Access Control Core (ACC), and then add the devices as sensors in Alta Protect.
Beta support for the 32-Input Expansion Board was added in Alta Protect 8.3.0. Initially, some devices or setups might not be fully supported. More support will be add in future releases. If you experience issues, contact Support.
Before you start
- Make sure you have the necessary Alta licenses and credentials. You need a license for Alta Protect, Alta Access, and a sensor integration license. For more information, speak to your Avigilon Alta Partner or Sales representative.
- Install and configure the expansion board:
- Install the 32-Input Expansion Board into an enclosure and connect it to the ACC. See the 32-Input Expansion Board installation guide.
- Provision the ACC in the Alta Access app. See the Access Control Core installation guide.
- Connect your sensors and trigger devices to appropriate inputs on the expansion board and note the input used.

Add 32-Input Expansion Board connected sensors to Alta Protect
- Go to the Alta Protect web app
- From the toolbar, open

Devices.
- Hover over
Devices and select Sensors.
- Click
Add sensors . - Select
Discover available ports . - Select one or more required sensors.
- The Host device type for 32-Input Expansion Board–connected sensors is I/O board.
- Click .
- Review the auto-populated details and change the sensor name or type if required.
- For additional security insight, associate cameras with fields of view that cover each sensor.
- Click .
- Assign each sensor to the required Device group and add any required Labels.
- Integrated sensors share the device group and labels of the parent device.
- Click .
- Confirm the sensors appear in the sensor list. If any error messages appear, verify wiring, licensing, and ACC provisioning, then retry.
View sensor details in Alta Protect
You can see detailed information about an expansion board sensor in the device side panel.
- From the toolbar, open
>
Devices.
- Hover over
Devices and select Sensors.
- Select the required device.
- Expand in the side panel.
Edit or delete expansion board sensors in Alta Protect
- From the toolbar, open
>
Devices.
- Hover over
Devices and select Sensors.
- Select the required sensor.
- Click in the side panel.
- Change any required details or settings in the tab.
- If you change the sensor type, it is removed as a trigger from any existing rules and zones.
- From Maintenance, delete the sensor, reset its settings, or configure it in Alta Access.
