Last modified: Friday February 21, 2025.

You must verify the readiness of each Protect installation before going live. This review is critical to ensure the system provides the required security and does not trigger avoidable false alarms and unnecessary dispatches.

We provide the following as an outline. You should customize your reviews to the specific requirements of each installation.

Camera setup

  • Appropriate field of view (Check mounting location, angle, height, and distance)
  • Adequate site coverage
  • No reflections
  • Stable light levels
  • Suitable low-light performance (IR cameras only)
  • Mask unsuitable fields of view
  • No blindspots
  • No environmental noise close to microphones
  • Cameras can see any associated sensor

Test alarm zones

Disconnect remote monitoring services before testing alarm zones.

We recommend not using remote monitoring for the first 14 days of live operation so you can make configuration adjustments based on actual site usage and conditions.

  • Test schedules arm and disarm zones when expected.
  • Check that disarm schedules align with the legitimate use of the site.
  • Check arming schedules align with the times the site is unused.
  • Check the appropriate users can manually arm and disarm zones, either from:
    • Alta Protect
    • Alta Protect mobile app
    • Arming stations
    • Third-party integrations

  • Clear everyone from the site
  • Arm every zone
  • Walk through the whole site
  • Check the following trigger alarms:

    • Significant activity outside the site (vehicles, machinery)
    • Changing light levels

Resiliency

Disconnect power and network connections and check:

  • Protect triggers any configured rules and alerts.
