Alta Video — 1761: Misuse of ServerConfig.PublicKeyCallback may cause authorization bypass in ssh

Release Date

10th February 2025.

Overview

A vulnerability has been identified in the golang.org/x/crypto library's `ServerConfig.PublicKeyCallback` function. Improper use of this callback can lead to an authorization bypass, allowing attackers to authenticate without possessing the necessary private keys. This occurs because the callback's execution order doesn't reliably reflect successful authentication, enabling attackers to manipulate the application's authorization decisions. This functionality is used by the `gliderlabs/ssh` library, used by the Alta Video Cloud Connector and Alta Video cameras.
