You can enter your personal details and configure some Alta Video features in your user profile.

Edit your Alta Video user profile

  1. Log in to Alta Video.
  2. Click your initials in the menu bar.
  3. Select Profile.
  4. Open the required tab and configure your settings.

General settings

From the General settings tab, you can:

  • View your user information.
  • Enter your location information.
  • Enter your phone details.
  • Reset your preferences.
  • Turn on Two factor authentication (2FA) for your personal account. 2FA can be required and added by your system administrator.
  • Change your sign-in password.

Preferences

  • Language preference: Set the language used in the user interface.
  • Playback limitation: Limit how many cameras can play back video at the same time.
    • Only increase the limit above four if your computer hardware is capable of playing multiple video streams simultaneously.
  • Fast playback mode: Choose how video renders when viewed at higher speeds:
    • Reduced frame rate: Conserves bandwidth by skipping frames during playback.
    • All frames: Makes fast playback smoother but uses more network bandwidth and requires sufficiently powerful computer hardware.
  • Path: Select how video is streamed from your cameras to the Alta Video web app or mobile app.
    • Smart: Alta Video determines the best route with minimal latency, including attempting a local connection.
    • Direct: Alta Video attempts a local connection only. This option can reduce latency for users without local network access to cameras.
    • Relay: Alta Video quickly selects an available relay with a higher potential latency.
    • For more information, see Smart Path intelligent media routing.
  • Download Manager usage: You can choose to download all videos or only those longer than the selected time.
  • Preferred playback location: When viewing or exporting video, you can choose to use video stored on the device or video backed up to the cloud.
    • For devices on networks with low bandwidth, remotely viewing or exporting video from cloud backups might have better performance than playback or export from a device.
    • For more information, see Preferred playback location.
  • Theme: Select the interface color theme.
  • Notifications:
    • Enable a notification sound.
    • Show your interest in participating in Alta Video surveys.

Timestamp & Measurement

  • Measurement units: Select your preferred temperature and pressure units for sensor readings.
  • Video timestamp: Choose how the UI shows timezones information:
    • Based on current location: All cameras are in the same timezone.
    • Camera Location (Defined per site): The deployment has sites in different timeszones.
    • Manually set user location: Select a timezone.
    • To see additional time information in video timelines, select Show additional time info

Currency formatting (requires POS integration)

  • Choose how Alta Video displays currency values, positive and negative numbers, and decimals.
  • The currency formatting tab is only visible if you have a point-of-sale integration. See Using point-of-sale integrations.
