Log into the Alta camera local user interface

Last modified: Sunday October 01, 2023.

In normal use, you do not need to access the local user interface of your Alta cameras, as most configuration options and status information is available from within Alta Video.

For Avigilon Alta cloud-native cameras and Avigilon Ava cloud-native cameras, Alta Video automatically generates a rotating password that is changed hourly.

For Avigilon Ava cameras connected to an Alta Cloud Connector, you can choose to use automatically generated and rotated credentials, or you can define the credentials yourself. For more information, see: Configure credential options for your Ava cameras

Prerequisites

Only users with permissions to access the Devices tools can access the automatically generated and rotated credentials needed to access the Alta camera local user interface.

Regardless of the method used to define the credentials for your Alta cameras, you can use this process to access the local user interface.

Task — Access the camera local user interface

  1. Choose Tools Open a tool > Devices Devices.
  2. Select the camera you want to access.
  3. From Detailed information, click and copy the camera IP address.
  4. Open a new browser tab and enter the IP address. The local user interface login page opens.
  5. Return to the Alta Video Devices tool and choose Settings > Edit settings > Connection > View credentials.
  6. Click and copy the Username.
  7. Return to the local user interface login page and paste in the Username.
  8. Repeat this process to copy and enter the Password.
  9. Click Sign in.
The user interface opens, and after a few seconds, is updated with the information about connection status and camera configuration.
