Format your SD card

If necessary, you can format the SD card in your Alta camera. To install a new card, see Replace your SD card. This option will only be visible if formatting is required. For information on SD card error messages and possible resolutions, see SD card errors.

You cannot alter the storage duration of your camera by using an SD card with a larger capacity.

Data on the SD card is encrypted and can only be read by the camera on which it was originally recorded.

Task — Format your SD card

  1. Open the Devices tool in Alta Video.
  2. Select the camera and click Edit settings in the side panel.
  3. From the Maintenance tab, select Format SD card. This option will only be visible if formatting is required.
  4. Click Format. The formatting process might take several minutes to complete.
