Access the Horn Speaker software

The Horn Speaker software can be accessed by using the Ethernet or USB-C connection on the device.

After connection to Alta Video, the Horn Speaker software user interface is read-only. Use the Devices tool to change settings or remove the device. See Change Horn Speaker settings in Alta Protect.

Before you start

  • Ensure you have a suitable cable for your chosen connection method:
    • A USB-C cable.
    • A Power over Ethernet (PoE) cable to connect the device to the same network as your client computer.
  • If you have previously added the device to the platform, you will need its sign-in credentials from Devices > [select device] > Edit settings > Connection > View credentials.

Access the Horn Speaker software

  1. Connect the speaker to your network via Ethernet or directly to a computer via USB-C.
  2. Use a browser to access the software UI:
    1. If you connect the device using the USB-C connector, use the default static IP address 169.254.7.10.
    2. If you connect across a DHCP network, use avacam-<speaker Alta Key>.local.
  3. If you have already added the device to the platform, enter the sign-in credentials (see above).
    1. If you have already added the device to the platform, the settings below become read-only.
    2. You do not need credentials the first time you sign in to the software.
  4. Use the tabs to view or change the settings:
    1. General:
      1. Turn the microphone on or off.
      2. Play a test sound to check the device is connected properly.
    2. System:
      1. Change the credentials for accessing the device.
      2. Change the software version.
      3. Reset the speaker settings.
      4. Reboot the device.
    3. Contacts & logs:
      1. See the contact information for the device.
      2. See logs of device activity.
      3. Download all device logs.
