Tampering
Last modified: Thursday January 30, 2025.
Tampering is a malicious attempt to bypass part of a security system:
- Change or obscure a camera's field of view.
- Damage or deactivate cameras, arming stations, access control devices, or sensors.
- Cutting system wires.
- Cutting power or network cables.
Cameras
You can configure notification rules for offline cameras and image health to detect significant changes to camera fields of view. See Create rules for camera issues and Configure Camera image health monitoring.
Devices
Alta Protect is more resilient to individual component damage because each device connects directly to our cloud services. An alarm zone can be armed or disarmed from any supported internet-connected device, not just its arming stations.
- Give some users permissions to arm and disarm zones in the mobile app. See Arm and disarm with the mobile app.
- Provide on-site information on how to contact these users if there is a problem with on-site arming stations.
- Some devices have built-in tamper detection. If available, you can add this as a detection type for alarm triggers. See Add triggers to a zone.
Network and power
Alta Protect is susceptible to network and power supply tampering. See Network and power resiliency.
