Control user access to alarm zones

By default, Administrators can arm and disarm all alarm zones and Operators cannot arm or disarm any zones. However, you can configure user groups and labels to allow some users to arm and disarm a limited group of zones.

Step 1: Add labels to zones

You must add labels to any zones you want to allow a user group to access.

  1. To edit an existing zone, open the Zones tool, right-click the required zone, and select Edit.
    1. In the Zone dialog, click edit zone settings button Edit.
  2. To create a new zone, open the Zones tool and click add new schedule button.
  3. In ZONE DETAILS, add or create the required labels.
  4. Click Done.

Step 2: Add device permissions to a role

You must create a role with permissions to arm and disarm zones.

  1. Choose Tools Tools > Users tool Users.
  2. Open Roles Roles.
  3. Select the Device permissions tab.
  4. To create a new role, click Add new Role Add and enter a name.
  5. To edit a role, select it.
  6. In the INTRUSION panel:
    1. Add the Alarm zones tool if required.
    2. Turn on Arm/Disarm alarm zones.
  7. Click Done.

Step 3: Assign device roles and labels to user groups

You must assign the device role to the required user groups and restrict the device role permissions the required zone labels.

  1. Choose Tools Tools > Users tool Users.
  2. Open User groups button User groups.
    1. To create a new user group, click Add user group button Add user group and enter a name.
    2. To edit an existing group, click on its name.
  3. In Device & Zone permissions:
    1. If you created a new role, select it from + Add more permissions.
    2. Adjacent to the required role, click the device field and from Custom labels, select the zone labels you added in step 1.
      1. This restricts the arm and disarm device permissions in the role to zones with those labels only.
  4. Repeat 2 and 3 until you have the required combination of user groups, device roles, and labels for the zones you want to control access to.
  5. Click Done.
