Create a Protect zone

In Alta Protect, you can use cameras, sensors, and access control devices to define alarm zones within your sites.

  1. Open the zone tool button Zones tool.
  2. Click add new schedule button.
  3. Name the zone.
  4. Select the site that contains the zone.
  5. Enter the address.
    1. Alta Protect monitoring service dispatch requests for this zone target the listed address. For more information, see Alta Protect monitoring service.
    2. Address details already defined for the site are automatically assigned and cannot be changed.
  6. Optional: Enter a description.
  7. Select or create any required labels. Labels already associated with the site are shown by a blue tick-box.
  8. If you use the Alta Protect monitoring service or another system that can request the dispatch of emergency response personnel, you might need to add a permit key.
    1. Permit keys allow emergency personnel responding to an alarm to quickly identify the location and owner of the alarm system. The necessary alarm permits and keys must be obtained from the relevant local government authority. Speak to your Avigilon Alta Partner for more information.
    2. Either select an existing permit key or click manage permits button Manage permits to create a new one. Permit keys are site specific.
  9. Select a user as the Emergency contact.
    1. The user must be have an address and phone number in a supported country. For more information about supported countries, speak to your Avigilon Alta Partner or Sales representative.
    2. If required, edit their details in the Users tool.

  10. Click Next.
  11. In TRIGGERS, select the devices and detection types that trigger alarms. See Add triggers to a zone.
  12. Click ARM & DISARM and choose how users arm and disarm the zone. See Arm and disarm settings.
  13. Click ALARM ACTIONS and configure automated responses when the zone enters an alarm state. See Automated alarm actions.
  14. Choose Done.
