Assign Protect device permissions to users

By default, Administrators can arm and disarm all alarm zones and Operators cannot arm or disarm any zones. However, you can give some users the ability to arm and disarm zones.
Step 1: Add device permissions to a role
To allow a user to arm and disarm zones, first create or edit a role with the required permissions.
- Choose
Tools > Users . - Open
Roles.
- Select the
Device permissions tab. - To create a new role, click
Add and enter a name. - To edit a role, select it.
- In the
INTRUSION panel:- Add the
Alarm zones orAlarms tool if required. - Select the required permissions.
- Add the
- Click
Done .

Step 2: Assign device roles to user groups
To control which users have access to Protect device permissions, assign the device role from step 1 to a user group.
If you added permissions to an existing role in step 1, any existing user group with that role immediately gains those permissions.
- Choose
Tools > Users . - Open
User groups.
- To create a new user group, click
Add user group and enter a name. - To edit an existing group, click on its name.
- To create a new user group, click
- In
Device & Zone permissions , select the required role from+ Add more permissions . - Click
Done .

Step 3: Assign users to user groups
Assign the required users to the user groups with the Protect device permissions role. For more information, see Add users to Alta Video.
Limiting or removing Protect device permissions
You can remove or limit Protect device permissions in a similar way. In step 1.6b, add or remove the required permissions. In step 2.3, add or remove roles from the required user groups.
