About this release
Installing this release will upgrade Alta Video deployments, and, if needed to maintain feature compatibility, any Alta cameras associated with your deployment.

What's new
In this release, Alta Video provides the following features:

| PTZ control priority | We have added a priority system for controlling pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras. When automated tours, alarms, and users try to simultaneously operate a PTZ camera, a system of notifications and rules ensure it can move to the highest priority position. | Automate PTZ camera movement using rules | You can now configure a pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) camera to move to a preset position as an automated action when a rule triggers. See Automate PTZ camera movement using rules. | 8.2.0 |
| Improved timeline thumbnails | When hovering over a video timeline, a thumbnail image is now generated for every 10 seconds of video. Previously, thumbnails only updated every 30 seconds. See View live video or play back recorded video. | 8.2.0 |
| Notification for appearance rule | When Face analytics are turned off on a device with an appearance rule, a warning message will display. See Create rules for appearance. | 8.2.0 |
| Zone authentication deployment setting | To improve security, the Alta Protect authentication method for arming stations and console devices is now a deployment setting that applies to all zones. Choose between Alta Access credentials or Zone PINs. See Set the zone authentication method. | 8.2.0 |
Updated domains
As we unify Avigilon Alta Video and Avigilon Alta Access, alta.avigilon.com will become the main domain used by Avigilon Alta Video and other Avigilon Alta services. Update your firewall rules to include this domain and its subdomains.
