What's new

Some new features rely on your Ava cameras software being in alignment with your Ava Aware software versions.

In this release, Ava Aware provides the following features:

Table 2 – New features in these releases

FeatureDescriptionAdded in version:
Changes to Ava camera data transfer rates

The auto-negotiation of network data transfer rates has been updated so that you can select either 100Mbps or 1Gbps maximum negotiated speed for your Ava cameras.

If the ports used by your cameras have been manually locked to 1Gbps, then you should update this to auto-negotiate.

3.7.1 beta
Two Factor Authentication (2FA) added

Ava Aware now includes two factor authentication, using Time-based One Time Passwords (TOTP) generated by an authenticator app on your cellular phone. Administrators can configure User groups to require two factor authentication to be used, or Users can choose to add 2FA for their own account.

The Aware mobile apps are not yet compatible with two factor authentication.

Because of this, do not configure two factor authentication for any user or member of a User group that needs to access Ava Aware using the Aware mobile apps.

See:
2 factor authentication in Alta Video

Set up administrator requested 2FA
Configure your own account to require two factor authentication

Known issues

During testing, we have found the following issues in these software packages.

Table 4 – Known issues found in these releases

ReferenceIssueSoftware
8923Issue: If many objects are detected in a camera view, attempting to carry out a Spotlight search on an individual object might give unpredictable results.Ava Aware
8867

Issue: If a user enables 2FA via their profile, and subsequently an administrator resets that users 2FA, then 2FA is disabled rather than the user being prompted on their next log in to again set up 2FA.

Workaround: After the next login, the user can re-enable 2FA, and follow the setup process.

Ava Aware
8861

Issue: If you grant user access via the Deployment Management Portal (DMP) for a defined period of time, at the end of that time, access is denied as expected, but the notification is not updated to show the change of state.

Workaround: Refreshing the browser shows the correct access.

Ava Aware

8852Issue: If you have configured various Sound rules, if an ultrasonic rule triggers, followed by another sound rule, the rules might both show as ultrasonic, even if the second trigger is, for example, a glass breaking rule or a loud noise rule.Ava Aware
8844

Issue: When attempting to edit the timezone for a site on your Ava Aware cloud, when you click on the Location field, the dropdown list closes.

Workaround: Double-click the Location field to display the list of timezones.

Ava Aware cloud
8604

Issue: In a clustered Ava Aware deployment, you cannot adjust the video overlay of a camera that is not located on the server you are logged into.

Workaround: Log into the server to which the camera is connected to edit the video overlay.

Ava Aware
8512Issue: In some circumstances, you might not see the alarm bars for ended alarms in the timeline.Ava Aware
8018Issue: In some circumstances on a clustered deployment, if you set up a line-crossing rule on one site, and enable it from another site, when the rule triggers and you acknowledge the alarm as False, the alarm is seen on the first site, but not on the site from where it was enabled.Ava Aware
7983Issue: When using Ava Aware cloud to configure webhooks from Ava cloud-native cameras, the $url value is not being included in the webhook.Ava cloud-native cameras
7549Issue: When searching from the Video view timeline on Ava Aware cloud, when you click the forward or back 1 second icons, the video pauses and the bounding boxes disappear.Ava Aware
6911Issue: If you set a dewarped panoramic view in Video view, and then move to another Aware tab, occasionally, when you return to Video view, the panoramic view resets to Globe view.Ava Aware
6242Issue: When attempting to view live or playback video recorded from Ava cloud-native cameras, the playback sometimes stutters and does not progress smoothly.Ava cameras
6232Issue: When using the delete recordings function to delete all recordings including bookmarks, all the video and metadata are deleted, but the bookmark items themselves are not removed.Ava Aware
5406

Issue: When requesting an RTSP stream, any camera view rotation that has been configured in Ava Aware is ignored, and the stream uses the rotation settings from the camera.

See:
Local RTSP streams

Ava Aware
5253

Issue: The storing of audio from the Ava cameras microphone arrays is enabled by default.

Workaround: You can disable the recording and storing of audio for the Ava camera and from the Ava Aware user interfaces.
See:
Set Alta camera settings locally and
Change camera settings in Alta Video

Ava cameras
2151

Issue: If you manually change the IP address of your Ava camera, you are not given any warnings that this will break contact with the camera, and you are not redirected to the new address.

Workaround: After changing the IP address of your camera, manually browse to the new IP address after the camera has rebooted.

Ava cameras
GeneralIssue: If third-party cameras do not support the multiple streams or the GOP profiles required by the Ava Aware video management system, these incompatibilities might impact the accuracy of the Ava Security analytics.Ava Aware
