Alta Cloud Connector high resilience mode

Last modified: Tuesday April 29, 2025.

If the Cloud Connector that a camera is connected to goes offline, the streams from that camera (or any other cameras connected to the Cloud Connector) are not recorded, and you will not see any video or analytics.

By creating a group of three Cloud Connectors, you can configure a high resilience group. This means that if one of the Cloud Connectors goes offline, the remaining two Cloud Connectors balance the cameras between them, enabling video to continue being recorded and viewable, and for analytics to continue functioning.

There might be a delay of a few minutes immediately after the Cloud Connector goes offline whilst the load-balancing is carried out.

Considerations when using high resilience mode

  • The Cloud Connectors must all be installed at the same physical site, be connected to the same network, and be configured in the same Alta Video Site.
  • The network round-trip time (RTT) between any two Cloud Connectors must be 10ms or less.
  • The system must be sized so that any two of the Cloud Connectors in the high resilience group can support all the camera sources connected to the group.
