Displaying the camera feeds

A common requirement, particularly in retail outlets or in healthcare facilities, is for security camera installations to be able to show the live footage from one or more cameras to members of the public or to employees.

Alta Video provides the following methods to achieve this:

  • Configure a local display
  • Create an external video viewer

Configure a local display

For Alta Video deployments that include Alta Cloud Connectors, you can configure a video view that is shown on a monitor attached to the Cloud Connector monitor port attached to the motherboard.

With local display, you can configure a video view from the cameras that are either connected to your Cloud Connectors, or from any Avigilon Alta or Avigilon Ava cloud cameras that are physically connected to the same network as your Cloud Connectors.

You cannot run a local display from the A100, A1000 or A1100 Cloud Connectors.

Although you can include video feeds from Avigilon Alta or Avigilon Ava cloud cameras connected to other networks, you will not be able to view these feeds if internet connectivity between the networks drops.

Once your external display has been connected to the compatible Cloud Connector, you can configure the Cloud Connector to show a selected video view.

Create an external video viewer

When using the external video viewer, you create a link to the required external view, and then point the monitoring system to the URL, using a one-time password (OTP) created by Alta Video.
