Release notes: Ava video security systems 5.6.0 beta

The Ava Security products and documentation are being localized using a phased approach. You can now choose your preferred language for the Ava Aware UI, login page, and system-generated emails. Ava Aware now supports English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish.

When you power an Ava Flex camera that has yet to be added to an Ava Aware deployment, the white-light illuminator is lit at a low level to show that the camera has power.

In addition to creating rules to notify key personnel when your cameras experience issues such as experiencing an analytics or SD card failure, you can now create rules to notify you when an Ava camera enters Recovery mode.

Ava Flex cameras include the ability to connect to your Ava Aware deployment wirelessly. To use these cameras across Wi-Fi, enable Wi-Fi connections for your deployment.

The concepts of rule activation and rule schedule have been updated. When creating a rule, the schedule contains days of the week and times of day that the rule is active, and separately to this, the whole rule can be activated or deactivated.

Issue: As the localized text in the Ava Aware user interface is added, there may be instances where some English terms still appear in the translated versions, or where the translated text might not correctly fit or align within the user interface design.

In addition, please provide feedback on instances where you believe the quality of the translations could be improved.

Issue: When recording the audio from compatible third-party cameras, the audio levels are not recorded until after the relevant Ava Cloud Connector is rebooted.

Workaround: From the Devices > <camera> > Edit settings > Audio settings dialog, disable the microphone, and then re-enable it.

Issue: When creating a new deployment from the DMP, you cannot currently enable DMP access.

Workaround: The initial user that was created during the deployment creation (or other newly created users with suitable permissions) can enable DMP access.

Issue: After upgrading or rebooting Ava Quad cameras, one or more sources might lose focus.

Workaround: After upgrading or rebooting Ava Quad cameras, check that the sources are all focused, and if not, trigger a focus from Devices > <camera> > Edit settings > Focus for each affected source.

Issue: when adding a new Cloud Connector as a secondary node to an existing Cloud Connector group, it is not automatically upgraded.

Workaround: Either manually upgrade the newly added Cloud Connector, or wait for the next system upgrade before adding devices to the Cloud Connector group. See Claim your Alta Cloud Connector for more information.

Issue: You might observe glitching in Video view if the viewing station includes an Intel(r) Iris(R) Xe GPU, and your browser has Hardware Acceleration enabled.

Workaround: Disable Hardware Acceleration from within your browser. See Browsers supported by Alta Video

Issue: If the Flex LED brightness is turned up, and the camera is placed close to a reflective surface, then the camera may oscillate between day and night mode.

Workaround: Either reposition the camera, or reduce the LED brightness.

Issue: When adding third-party cameras to Ava Aware using the Automatic protocol option, Ava Aware might not be able to successfully add the camera.

Workaround: If a third-party camera fails to be added correctly, try again using the Onvif protocol option.

• Users of the Aware mobile app for Android version 2.9.0 and earlier will hear the audio recorded from Ava Aware 5.0.3 and later at a higher volume than before.
• Users of the Aware mobile app for Android version 2.9.1 and later will hear the audio recorded from Ava Aware 4.9.7 and earlier at a lower volume than before.
